I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and re-evaluating in regard to my writing and my natural health. I’m working through the Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron (again), and have come to the conclusion that I’ve gotten away from writing for the LOVE of  it. This morning it hit me.. I have turned writing into a chore instead of embracing the joy of the written word. It probably sounds corny to those of you who are not writers, but really.. it’s like anything else.. If you focus on the work aspect of whatever you’re doing it becomes WORK.  But when you focus on the fun parts, the joy you get from completing the task,  it becomes a source of joy, a source of happiness and reinforces your connection with whatever higher power you may believe in,

What does this have to do with health? When your mind and body are joyful,  the cells in your body function at a higher level. There have been studies showing that happy, content and joyful people heal faster get ill less and are overall more healthy than people who are depressed, business oriented and serious all the time.

I have found my sense of joy in my writing and in my studies.. I’ve remembered why I write, and why it’s fun. Take some time to look at your life. What gives you joy? What about your work makes you feel like you’re on top of the world? What makes you feel like bounding out of  bed in the morning to face the world with all you’ve got? Find those things.. nurture those things.. and better health and peace of mind will follow.

Tell me your thoughts.
