Bee-Zilla

There is a Bumble Bee, or maybe it’s a Carpenter Bee stalking our back porch. I spent one day last week burning small, old, dead wood in our big bbq grill. We’ve spent the last several weeks collecting deadwood from near the house. Most if it will be chopped into firewood for next winter, but some is simply too rotted away to make good firewood or kindling, so we’re burning that down, and adding the ashes to the compost pile. While I was outside all day burning wood, that bee hovered between our back porch and the porch that comes off our laundry room. Occasionally it flew toward the end of the house, but the danged thing always came back. Every time I went up on the back porch the bee rushed to the porch and simply hovered in front of me.  It didn’t try to sting, and didn’t fly into me. It simply hovered about 3 feet away approximately even with my eyes. When I moved, it moved. It was the weirdest thing, I finally gave up sitting on the porch and moved a chair near the fire so I could work while I watched the fire.

That evening, my husband I sat on the back porch to eat dinner. When we went out there was no sign of the bee. After I’d been out there five minutes or so, the bee appeared out of nowhere and took up position in front of me again. No amount of “shoo-ing” made this bee go away. I won’t kill a bee unless I absolutely have to, so we went in.

On Saturday, I wanted to sit outside and read. I checked the patio for my bee-admirer, and did not see it. So, I went out. It took me a few minutes to get my tea and my book, and get settled. After I had been reading for about 10 minutes I heard a buzz. Sure enough, Bee-Zilla was back.

I’ve been avoiding the back porch, and keeping an eye out for the bee, and have not seen him.

Until this morning. I took my breakfast and coffee outside. No sooner did I sit down and get settled when Bee-zilla started buzzing around my head. I sat still and he took position in front of my face again.

What IS it with this bee?

Maybe he’s trying to tell you something about bees and honey. 🙂 I have an owl that sits on my deck rail and just stares.

Maybe he’s just telling you that you are sweeter than honey.

LOL! I draw the insects! My husband believes it is because of my insulin resistance/diabetes. He seems to think it makes me sweeter. Try shaking out some garlic powder or grow some garlic in a bowl near where you sit. DH did that while working outside and the wasps that had been swarming around him disappeared!
